臆造京局製造光绪元宝庚子十文铜币。在A. M. Tracey Woodward的著述<em>The Minted Ten-Cash Coins of China</em> 中（原书中文印製译名《中国铸造十文银币》有刊误，《中国铸造十文铜币》更为妥当），他认为此枚钱币即便是臆造币，也是一枚老臆造币。作者还称："这枚精美製钱本应在北京地区发行流通，但在铸造了几版试样后被认为不合使用。得出这一推论的原因是，设若某个城市的新币样获批淮发行，其他城市定会争相效仿。这枚钱币未通过发行审核，实属藏家之幸(p. 149)。"铸打深峻，细节明晰，通体呈现醇美的巧克力色。

If this is a fantasy, it is an old one, as it is mentioned in Woodward, wherein he notes (p. 149), "A neat coin ostensibly having been made for circulation in Peking, but which, after a few trial pieces had been minted, was discarded as unsuitable, because the fact was undoubtedly recognized that had the principle of a coin for a city been given effect, all the cities in China would have claimed the same privilege. Let us be thankful that the piece was not approved." Sharply struck with excellent definition of the fine details. Handsome chocolate brown throughout.
