Very Good.，In the Wild West days of collecting, long before price guides and a digital census, collectors mostly focused on types and denominations. As an example, there was a time when collectors werent sure if an Iowa lazy deuce even existed, and a Mississippi brown back held the same lofty status as an Oregon first charter. Time, the internet, and census keepers have helped make once great rarities little more than hole fillers. However, one of the last surviving great rarities remains the type2 $100. One has to remember that $100 represented the average monthly salary in the early 1930s. The vast majority of national banks that were still in business in the depression simply didnt have need for high denominations. Many states didnt even issue them at all; others were only issued by huge banks (think San Francisco 13044). The type and denomination has an active following today. The note we are auctioning tonight is only the second documented Type2 $100 from Virginia. Amazingly, there wasnt a single bank in all of Virginia that issued type1 $100s. So if you need the denomination for your set, you only have two notes to choose from. The other is from Ferrum and it has no auction history. In fact, just Ferrum and Hampton issued type2 $100s in Virginia. It is very fortunate for collectors that each charter has a single survivor. No one knows when the Ferrum note will show up, but we are very certain that this Hampton note is available tonight.，，
