Ceres seated in large ornate V at center flanked by female portraits. A train is seen in an oval frame at left. At right is the custom vignette Battle of the Frogs featuring two bullfrogs, one belly up in defeat. The theme is an emblem for the city and represents the local 1754 event "Battle of the Frogs." The "Battle" was a natural event resulting in the large-scale death of frogs in a drought stricken millpond, but noisy and frightening for the Windham residents during this period of the French and Indian Wars. The bank and vignette type are very rarely offered for sale. This $5 Proof was acquired directly from Part 7 of the Herb & Martha Schingoethe Collection in July 2006. The details are sharply printed in dark inks. Mounting remnants are seen in the back corners which has resulted in minor corner damage to the top left corner. Still a truly exceptional Proof featuring a highly desirable and rare vignette.，，
