1881 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. AU Details--Scratch (PCGS).，Tinges of rose iridescence mingle with dominant honey-gold patina on both sides of this relatively attractive piece. Much of the striking detail remains, the devices boldly to sharply defined over all but the highest elements of the design. As well, we note ample evidence of a prooflike finish from the dies. The PCGS qualifier concerns a thin vertical scratch that nearly bisects the obverse. With a mere 500 coins produced, the 1881 boasts the lowest circulation strike mintage in the three-dollar gold series. Survivors are understandably scarce and popular at all levels of preservation, the present example sure to appeal to many buyers in todays market.，From the RSC Collection.，
