1814 Classic Head Cent. S-295. Rarity-1. Plain 4. AU-50 BN (NGC).,Given the brevity and conditionally challenging nature of the Classic Head cent series, this final year 1814 is sure to catch the eye of advanced type collectors. Both sides are boldly toned in copper-rose patina, the detail suitably bold for the assigned grade. The obverse is well centered, if not fully denticulated around the border, while the reverse is off center to 12 oclock with the tops of the letters flush to the upper border. A bit of light surface scale in the protected areas around the devices and a few trivial marks are easily overlooked, and just as easily forgiven. Although the Mint did not produce any 1815-dated cents, examples of this denomination are believed to have been struck that year using the 1814-dated die pairing that we now know as S-295.,From Heritages sale of the Rev. Dr. James G. K. McClure Collection, June 2016, lot 3055.,
