Here is an example of the most coveted and iconic type in the Massachusetts copper series, on which the positions of the arrows and olive branch are in the opposite eagles talons as compared to all other half cents and cents in the series. The "Transposed Arrows" reverse F is also unique in the series in that the word CENT is actually raised rather than incuse, like all other reverses in the series, a bit of trivia often forgotten inasmuch as the average example of 20 or so survivors of this rare die marriage is low grade or somehow impaired. And the "Arrows in Right Talon" is the rarest of only 7 Redbook listed types for the entire Massachusetts copper series. The PCGS details grade is quite conservative, as the central motifs show VG or better detail, as the lower part of the Indians tunic shows clear delineations of its pleats. An ovoid hole near top of eagles head was accomplished long ago, and this rare Massachusetts cent clearly spent time out of commerce, explaining its weathered, dark brown surfaces that are actually light tan at the high points of the devices.
