Unc Details--Filed Rims (PCGS).，A significant find for the 20th century gold collectors, this fully Uncirculated 1908-S double eagle is sharply struck and displays intense satin luster throughout. The obverse is boldly reddish-orange while the reverse is lighter medium gold. The stated qualifier refers to light filing at the reverse rims, done to give this example an added boost to the first impression. With only 22,000 pieces produced the 1908-S has the lowest mintage among circulation strike Saint-Gaudens double eagles of the Motto design. It is the key issue of its era, and even circulated coins are elusive. In Mint State the 1908-S is rare, and the present example is sure to see spirited bidding at auction.，From the A.J.
