Reverse: Printed advertisement on blue heavy card in eight lines, N. & G. TAYLOR CO. / Established 1810. / Importers of / and Dealers in / Tin Plate, Metals / WIRE, FILES, / &c. &c. / 301, 303, 305 Branch Street, Philadelphia. Lovely surfaces with deep greenish olive and brown mottling. A bit of light wear but no damage. The blue heavy card insert is perhaps a bit finer with only the most superficial handling. Lovely color and no damage. N&G Taylor issued Civil War Tokens, catalogued by Fuld as PA-750-V, making this a very desirable crossover piece. Just two or three are known and this is the Bowers plate piece.<p>The 1867 title, <em>Philadelphia and Its Manufactures</em>, (pages 326-327), described Taylors business at 301, 303, and 305 Branch Street, "established in 1810," importers and dealers in "tin plate, pig tin, pig lead, ingot copper, spelter, antimony, sheet zinc, sheet copper, sheet brass," etc., with a notice that "tinsmiths, stove makers, coppersmiths, plumbers, gas fitters, brass founders, machinists, coopers, type founders, and hardware merchants, supplied with trimmings and goods used in your line at lowest market rates."<p>,Ex Ralph Mitchell Collection; Jess Peters; Ray Byrne Estate; David Schenkman, January 1983; Steve Tanenbaum; Stacks Bowers, June 2013; Q.
