Louisiana, New Orleans. 1868 Albert G. Phelps. Bowers LA-400. Gilt brass. 34 mm. About Uncirculated.，Obverse: Liberty Head double eagle motif. Reverse: Advertisement in seven lines, ALBERT G. PHELPS / CHOICE / FAMILY / GROCERIES / COR FELICITY / & PRYTANIA Sts / NEW ORLEANS. A couple of very light dents, but not distracting in the least. The lovely olive surfaces have traces of the original gilding remaining on both sides, but particularly on the advertising side. A choice card from New Orleans (the only Louisiana city known to have issued these cards) for which there are very few types. The Bowers reference includes entries for only 12 issuers.
